The
first hole where Hawk Creek comes into play, hole #5 is a fun challenge
to get up and over. Clearing the large pond on the left, but stopping
short of Hawk Creek ahead, a strong drive to the middle of the fairway
will put you within 120 yards of the two-tiered green.
A
cluster of trees on the right side of the fairway separates the rough
on #5 from the rough on hole #4. Following the outline of the pond,
the fairway has a moderate dogleg left before reaching Hawk Creek. It
can be a relatively short and easy par 4 with the pin on the bottom
of the green, but it requires you to be very agressive to avoid 3 putts
if the pin is on the top.
With
two considerable water hazards, hole #5 requires you to play it safe.
Scramble teams, on the other hand, should go for it.
