Despite
a wide fairway and only a modest dogleg, hole #4 is deceptively long.
Even with a strong drive to the middle of the gently rising fairway,
the sloped green can be hard to hold. To make the most of this narrow,
crescent-shaped green, it's better to come in from the left side.
A
cluster of trees on the right side of the fairway separates the rough
on #4 from the rough on hole #5. The fairway has a gentle upward slope
until about 180 yards out, when it straightens out. The green is surrounded
by a rolling berm on the right side, and can have challenging pin positions.
Longer
than it looks, hole #4 requires two solid hits to reach the green in
regulation. At the same time, the extra length and width allows for
easy recoveries. Different pin placements can make the hole completely
different, adding more challenge when you play the course a couple times
a week or every weekend.
